 About me

I stumbled upon leather craft by chance through wood craft. My original goal back then was to craft leather sheaths for two of my blades using simple means. So I bought a piece of leather, a set of needles and some thread. For lack of better alternatives I initially measured the space between the stitching holes using a dinner fork and even punched through the leather with it ... not an ideal choice, but the result was fairly acceptable... at least acceptable enough for me to immediately want to transform the leftover leather into something useful as well.

A few months have passed during which I kept coming up with new ideas for smaller projects that I increasingly enjoyed making. In the meantime I also abandoned using a fork, meaning I upgraded my tools and then bought a whole double shoulder of high-quality leather for the first time - all with the big goal of designing a roll-top backpack according to my ideas and preferences and to then craft it with my own hands. After a lot of research, the creation of paper prototypes and finally around 150 hours of manual work - which passed quickly while hand-stitching the shoulder straps and large panels - I was rewarded with an entirely satisfactory result.

So while I kept manufacturing new, useful things for myself such as backpacks, wallets and belts, my family and friends started showing interest in some of my leather items. Seeing this as a welcome challenge I was motivated by these first "orders" because they made me find new solutions in design, become more familiar with the materials and learn new methods of working with and processing leather. The positive feedback I received further spurred me on to delve even deeper into leather crafting and to continuously refine individual working steps. I gradually became self-taught in how to do things and was increasingly pleased with the results.

Since then, I have been practicing leather craft as a hobby on an arts and crafts basis. There are no limits to creativity and you are constantly finding new ways to realize your ideas. In principle, I only make individual pieces on request. This means that each piece is unique and involves many hours of manual work.

This website is an attempt to make my products accessible to all those who value origin, quality and durability in the leather products they use every day.
